Abstract

Digitization of music has decrease the value of the medium of music while the song has been enthroned as the unit of hearing (brief, immediate, isolated), to the point that many consider the vast amount of music available devalues the quality of the listening experience. But at the time, the dead of the medium has impulsed the live experience, the logic of being together in one place at a particular time, as the auratic art described by Walter Benjamin. This article describes some of the continuities between new forms of production and consumption in the digital music and the real world, exploring the connections with other phenomena that are marking our contemporary age.
